a new beer and wine bar just opened up in port st lucie, FL, just off the st. lucie west I95 exit. it is called Vine & Barley and it is truly a godsend. excellent rotating craft and import selection of beers along with a quiet, rustic, old-bar atmosphere.

they have wine too, but hey, this is Ale Street News so...

Around the Lansing, MI area good beer bars can be scarce - the largest selection of goodness usually resides @ Crunchy's in east lansing, with 27 taps usually 20 of them are michigan.

Old Chicago chain has a location in okemos and they're pretty cool - short's huma lumpa as a permanent handle, which makes it worthwhile alone.

Brannigan Bro's in downtown lansing has something nice here and there

I hear good things about dusty's taproom, but have never been.

Been to so many good beer bars in so many places, I can't remember them all. But, there's always a place in my memory (and heart) for the Waterfront Ale House in Brooklyn. Excellent food, high quality, rotating beer selection, nice people, great owner. Best of all, the last blind date of my life was there on January 24, 1999. Nine months later, we were married. Karen and our (almost six year old) daughter Olivia, are going back for our ten year first date anniversary in 5 days. I can't wait. I love you, Karen and Liv!

Great story there uncamark. She must be a keeper and better yet, a beer goddess. How about some easy directions to this place. I know I can MapQuest it but you just might know an easier way there. I can either go over the Outerbridge through Staten Island or up to the Goethals if it's quicker driving north from the Woodbridge area. Any suggestions would be helpful. Also do you have any suggestions as far as beer goes? Thanks and congratulations.

Howdy Folks,
Two Saturdays ago my wife and I went on a little Beer crawl in NYC. We started off in Heartland Brewery & Rotisserie. I visited a couple of their other locations but have been intrigued by the Empire State Building location (350 5th Ave @ 34th St) so we finally went in. I had the Farmer John's Oatmeal Stout and Bavarian Black Lager. Not bad. Than it was off to my most anticipated pub in a long time. The Ginger Man on 11 East 36st St. Great atmosphere and selection. I believe 70 taps and 160 different bottled beers. Although it was early, 2:30pm, it was little quiet (every seat was taken at the bar) and I got that feeling of beer "snobberish". Is that a word? The bartender was seemingly knowledgeable so I couldn't really complain much and I still loved the joint. I will definitely go back. I enjoyed a Sierra Nevada Bigfoot and a Stone Oaked Double Bastard on tap. I also tried a Sierra Nevada Smoked Porter. While I admit I didn't care for a smoked flavor in my beer I would probably try one from another brewer to see if the strength of the "smokiness" could be a little less. Time to eat at Duke's 560 3rd Ave @ 37th St for some BBQ and a light beer. Now it was on to Stout NYC on 133 33rd St. Probably over 100 bottles and a very nice selection of taps. I had Mother's Milk Oatmeal Stout and Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Very nice. Than it was off to The Slaughtered Lamb Pub @ 182 West 4TH ST Greenich Village. They have quite an assortment of bottled beers. Probably close to 100. A little funky but fun, see it it at least once. Touristy yes but it's a bar. Than it was on to 281 Bleecker St to Blind Tiger Ale House St. 28 taps and about 60 bottles. At this point I'm not sure what I drank but the party continued and it was time to get on the train and call it a night. I love NYC!
