my favorite is Schmalts Alt by Schells. Much like Guinness but about $2.00 cheaper per six pack. It doesn't hurt to live only 9 miles from the brewery either. Unfortunatly it no longer is a year round beer. it was unavailable for about 2 years but I guess enough people like me let the brewery know and it is available at Christmas time now.

Schmaltz compared to Guinness? C'mon, New Ulm, MN!! Schaltz Alt is a fine product, but it is not Guinness! Schell's does make some fine beers, folks. For those of you outside the brewing nirvana of the upper midwest, too bad. When you're road-tripping this summer, you need to check out the many great breweries/pubs in Wisconsin and the eastern part of the Land of 10,000 Lakes. And, for the best brewfest, the Great Taste of the Midwest--can you say Madison?--is THE place`to be in early August.
As I enjoy my Ale Asylum Hopalicious (again, Madison, the excellent new brewpub), cheers to all at Ale Street News!
